In Los Angeles since 1904, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd continue a tradition of more than 100 years of caring for women and children in abusive and inhumane situations. In 1977, this international congregation serving in 70 countries founded Good Shepherd Shelter of Los Angeles as one of the [sic] nation’s first shelters for victims of domestic violence.
1736 Family Crisis Center’s mission is to help those most in need by offering the necessary tools to develop safe, self-sufficient lives, focusing on domestic violence victims, runaway and homeless youth, and community members who need extra help to create stable lives.
These centers based out of Metropolitan Los Angeles are a place to start looking for help. They can help you assess the kind of trouble you are in, and help you with the damage control. Domestic violence is an issue that can be prevented, it is important to stay informed and aware on how you can help yourself and others.
